  • 4 15" Subs in Casket?!?

I am thinking about haveing 4 15" subs and a 1000 watt amp installed in Cadaver (Yeah thats my hearse's name). I plan on haveing the subs mounted in boxes and the boxes placed inside my casket, the wood one that I had at Monster Bash, and then running the amp somewhere that is hidden. Basically it will look like their is only a casket in the back of my hearse and then open the lids on the casket then you see 4 subs.

Well that is what I am thinking about doing and I have the financial funds to do this on January 2nd... Any ideals?

Great Idea!I'm all about havin the ears bleeding! But NorthGaHearse is right, thats not nearly enough power for 4 15s. Come to think of it, is your casket going to have enough airspace per sub to sound good? I know my 12's require 1 1/4 cubic feet per sub sealed or 2 1/2 cubic feet ported. Do you know what subs and amp you have picked out yet?

i want to do one with subs in the casket hitting up and a mix of mids and highs from the sides .. the idea is to have the box able to go from car to car.....

in the 70 i have 4 12s with 2400 watts pushing and then 3 other amps pushing the rest of it all mids and highs ..... its hits but the poor gm system is pushing all she got .... i have a 1000 ideas of what i want to do but i just hate doing sound in cars blahhhhhhhhhh

Putting together systems in cars is my passion I absolutely love it! Only built the system in mine back in april and I'm already to upgrade some more! But yeah kind of in the same boat I'm already pushin my poor little factory alternator, need to upgrade to a 250amp and get the "Big 3" done pretty damn quick. Already have the Optima Yellow top and a 5 Farad power cap to run all of mine but to go bigger I need more juice!

The space issue for the 15's theirs enought to have 4 of the 15"s but not haveing the amp in the casket, thought about haveing the amp placed at the head area of the casket and subs in the rest. I am looking into a 1500 watt amp that will have 375amps going to each sub. the 1000 watt would only have 250 watts....

As for the alternator I already have the biggest one that can be put into my hearse, the alternator died on me on the way back home from Monster Bash last year... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! so the altornator should be ok.

The subs are made by Memphis 15" subs and the 1500 watt Memphis.

              Don't do it.

Why you would want to ruin your hearing, which will adversely affect the rest of your life, I don't know. I can only guess that you are young...young people consider themselves invincible until they learn reality through suffering, and by then, it's always too late for anything but regrets.

Just please don't drive through neighborhoods, or close to them. Not only is it extremely annoying, but the police can do anything from giving you a ticket to confiscating your car, and a homeowner may give you a bullet. It happens many, many times a day, but of course, never to young people. They're invincible.

Before you complain, remember that you asked for "Any ideas?" That is my idea.

Yanno I'm thinkin Cadaver has already put thought into the possibility of going deaf, hence the 4 15's. My advice to you Cadaver is build the car how ever ya want thats the point of owning a unique automobile like a hearse. You want your ears to bleed, have at it! I know I won't own a car for very long without going down to the stereo shop and making some serious upgrades. But to show respect to everyone else "Boom Responsibly". I turn my down at stop lights and through neighborhoods, but on the open road, its full blast!

That's a good point; for instance, I've always believed that people who want to mutilate or even kill themselves have the right to do so, but I also have a right not to have to hear the screams.

                    Hearing Lost...

I dont plan on listining to it being so loud that it hurts, my brother has 2 15"s and he will go deaf due to hearing him come 4/10...2/5 of a mile away. I want the ability to be loud but not necceassary loud all the time. At some car shows that I go to they have the loudest sterior system contest and well thats when I will use it at 100%. Now driving I do not plane on haveing it wake up the neighbors, I feel bad when I drive my 66 Mustang cause it has two glass pak exost on it and it is loud! My parents said they could hear me 2+ miles away driving down Red Lick Road. At first it hurt my ears but now it doest...
That may not be a good thing...

Speaking of bullets I have already had someone shoot at me while driving in Irvine, they shot the driver door with a high power pellet gun. The pellet went through the outside metal door but it lost enough momentum that the inside padding stoped it. This was about two years ago.

As for the subs I wanted something that I could pull up to someone blaring theirs and then just wip them out with mine but I would look around to see if their are any cops around... But I want my hearse to look factory but once you pull out the casket and look in it then you see the modifications. The only evidence that I have anything will be where the two cables will be connecting to the speakers in the casket through a Connection box mounted somewhere in the back that wont be seen.

And come to think of it I do have a partation that I could close with it going full blast... But thank you for being concerend about my hearing but I do not plan on blaring it at 100% all the time just about the 1 to 2% at car shows... I want a good bump but I do not want to do like my brother and actually cant breath in his car when he has the music loud! Yeah I cant seat in his back seat cause not only does your head hurt but you litterally can not breath from the bass... If I want loud I go with my 66 Mustang cause its loud and its all engin, I have pictures of it on my myspace page, user name is Rheinhold.

I can't say that I never went to the discos in the 70's, where the music was so loud that you could feel the breeze from the speakers, and your internal organs tried to separate from the rumbling in your chest, but it was something that I only did once in a great while. Every thing has its time and its place. To me, four quality 6x9 speakers with midranges and tweeters are plenty for a car. Anything louder is dangerous, because the driver can't hear another car coming up, a mechanical problem, or an emergency vehicle siren.

A long time ago, there was a debate about whether or not any radio should be allowed in a car, because it is a distraction to the driver. The only reason that they were allowed was because of a study showing that listening to talk radio helped drivers to stay awake. I have music in my cars, but the heavier the traffic gets, or the more I have on my mind, the more I turn it down. I also think that my GPS is a distraction, so I mostly just listen to the voice. If I need to study the map, I take a minute to pull into a parking lot. Same thing with the cell phone...there is no reason to talk on the phone while driving a car. Just pull over and park, so that you can make your call without doing something stupid and causing a wreck.

So you want your car to boom.
4 15's will certainly do the trick. I have quite a bit of software progs that can help once you narrow the field on what kind of drivers you like.
These are not the prettiest, but they are fierce and deep. Well capable of making your inner child cry. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=295-420

A 1,000 watt amp is fine if it is a high current type and not high voltage.
With the 2 subs below in a truck, I hit 147.5 db with a single 1,200 watt amp.

PM me for questions. This is really my specialty.
