  • So, I was thinking.....

Of dropping a 340 6pack with a 4 speed in the 51 plymouth. Buddy of mine has this set up in his garage from a wrecked duster. Thoughts?

It'll still be a boat anchor on wheels...

I'll drive a boat anchor on wheels no problem. But I'll never drive a ford. Boat anchors are more reliable and the parts are cheaper........

Wow, you certainly spent a little time compiling that list.
                Wanna know my response?
                Who's getting bailed out?
What are they calling them now?
Government Motors and Fiat Motors of America?
                Yeah, something like that...
I mean, c'mon, everyone knows only the best car companies are owned by the government!
What a bunch of losers over at Ford. Fuck, they can't even run their company into the ground like General Motors or Chrysler have...
Sorry bro, not matter how many "isms" you come up with for Ford, no other domestic can touch them.

I was just havin fun bro sheesh.Plus, I stole it from another site. To each their own. I'd love to have a 64 Thunderchicken. I have wanted one since I was a kid. But I love the Plymouth. It looks good and runs great, it's just slow as christmas with it's stock set up. All new cars are crap. My car was built during a time where people didn't go..."omg you're a loser cause you drive a (insert random domestic car name here)". I drive this car daily. Many people praise me for it, some call me a fool. Both are right. I dont give a shit if i have to turn a wrench on it every day, I do it and enjoy it. I am one of the few people left in the world that just doesn't give a shit. That drives the cars they love to drive regardless or how much of a pain in the ass it is. I could have a honda as a daily driver just as easy as I have the 51 as a daily driver, hell, I am smart enough to know that would make more economic sense, but I wouldn't be at all happy with it.

That thing is so small it'd probably run like a raped ape with a real motor/trans setup in it. But if you put a real motor in it, I'll have to put a real motor in the BERRKK so I don't get left behind when we go somewhere.

In regards to brand loyalty - I've got a Chevy, Buick, Cadillac, Ford and a Toyota - of all of them the Toyota is the only one that has been dead nuts reliable. Of them the one I'd rather drive is the Caddy, but it takes some negotiation and some 'arise chicken, arise' chanting just to get her started on most days.

Bro, easy there. I was nowhere near serious. I guess I should have put some of those smiley thingies in the post or something. Relax, we're cool.

Brand rivalry is all part of the fun. In the hotrod world, I go by the moniker of Johnny Ford and am quasi famous - at least in California - so "defending my namesake is a given...

But always remember, I only come online to have fun and it is a given I'm doing exactly that when I post.

So please, if you're going to talk about your boat anchor going faster...do it and then brag, because that thing should be sold to the Navy to be melted down in order to make a new anchor to keep some battleship from floating away with the tide...

man, the cars too small, melted down into an anchor it might ( and i use the tern might loosely) hold a bass boat in place. But nothing looks likes a early 50's model car. I love it.

Eh, scratch th swap idea. I did some research, and even if the 340 has been freshly rebuilt, this flathead will outlast it 4 times over if properly maintained. I am going to get the headers and dual carb intake for it tho. And the overdrive unit. So then my max speed will be around 80mph and it won't take me quite as long to get to that speed.
