You guys know where I could get a set of purple headlight covers for the square headlights?
Are you wanting some like mine? I got mine off ebay. I bid on a lot before I won a set. I think I have seen a pair of square ones, but not recently.

Nice, but mine is nicer! I have a 1972 Cadillac Superior hearse. It has a 500 cubic inch engine, 7 speed transmission, tractor-trailer leaf springs, and straight pipes! It tops out at around 197 mph! I can pick the front end off of the ground and ride the skid plates from a red light. It has Ghost flames and red neon. My hearse would put that one on it's knees. I'm not talking trash I'm only speaking the truth.
      1/4 mi. in 8.4 seconds!!

That's what the guy from Youtube said about his car.

The dude on this site has all the go fast solutions for Caddy monster blocks - including crazy racing stuff. Psycho Caddy set ups do exist.
              Here's your tranny kit.

                4 speed in hearse

It seems to me if you really want a 4 speed / manual trans in a hearse, an early Pontiac body or other GM style body other than Caddy would be doable on a budget. As a Pontiac fan (I also own a '81 400/4speed T/A) I've seen a Tempest/LeMans body style that could be easily made into a stick car as the base cars came with them and it would be possible to put a GTO nose on it. When was the last time anyone saw a GTO hearse? That would be cool. Catalinas and Bonnevilles in the '60s also came with 4 speeds as well. Just a thought, Good Luck

Have you looked into an Under/Over for the TH400? Gear Vendors makes a nice two speed under/over that will bolt in place of the tailshaft on a TH400. If it is a long tailshaft unit, it will not be much bigger. That will give you an underdrive, and an overdrive for each gear. Basically a 6 speed automatic. The only real fab work involved would be a shorted driveshaft. They were popular to install in motorhomes. Most GM based motorhomes had TH400 transmissions. So, there is a chance that you can find a used one. I have seen them on Ebay for as little as $500.00
                  Good Luck....

It would seem he is more interested in the nostalgia of a manual trans.

I still say a cool atm floor shifter from Lokar or something would be cool with little modification.

BigEvil is right. I would love to give this car a manual tranny. However, if a good 6 sp automatic tranny came along I wouldnt be apposed to putting that in it.

I've actually had this set up in a few rigs. I use a flywheel from 500cid.com, & an 11" Chevy truck clutch. In one rig I used a Saginaw 4 speed with a pontiac bellhousing from a Trans Am. I also grafted on an overdrive robbed from a '63 Nova with the Sagniaw 3 speed. Works like a charm! The whole mess is in a '63 Mercury Comet. Only problem is keeping it from spinning....
In the other rig I used the same flywheel, bellhousing, and clutch. I bolted the 500 into a '78 Chevy 1 ton Dually 4X4 club cab. Makes lotsa torque and has snapped a few U-joints...
The Caddy crank isn't drilled for a pilot bushing, so... On both conversions I had to machine 3/4" off of the end of the input shaft and move the splines back an equal amount. I also had a press fit insert made for the crank that accepts a chevy pilot bushing.
Oh, and on the truck I had to have the center hole in the bellhousing enlarged a bit to fit over the truck nose cone... don't remember how much.
