This past Sunday and Monday, Ken and I worked on removing the vinyl top on the '80. I have some before shots with the top off and I'll take an after shot with the new top.
What I did was use the roll on truck bed liner for the final product. I figured (as some others have as well) that if my original top was going to continue dying a slow death, I'd better replace it. There was rust (not too bad, mostly surface) and some pitting. The worst was on the driver's side. We took most of Sunday to clean off the adhesive and prep the rust areas. Then Monday we put on 2 coats of the liner. I'm really impressed with that stuff. I'll post some pics shortly.
If I order a new vinyl top, then at least the roof has been treated and now has a good protective liner on it.
