  • Well, "The Bug" bit me

I bought my first hearse only 5 months ago, and have already purchased my second. Yesterday I took ownership of a 1962 Pontiac Star Chief Hearse made by Cotner Bevington. It needs a lot of work, and I will be selling my '88 Buick to pay for restorations. But I feel like I am making the right decision in doing this.

Wow yea, your making the right decision my man. not buying that car would be a bad decision. Shes beautiful. And the body seems solid. Even the paint that's there looks great. Great find , and yes, love to see some inside shots. Did it come with any other spare parts to put it back together or anything?

Here's the CL ad for those that missed it:

This RARE Pontiac has been in the family since the 80's and sadly must go. Offered is a 1962 Pontiac Star Chief. Once a working Funeral car turned show car in the early 80's now in need of some TLC to bring it back to life. The car has an Olds 455cu in motor (ran great when last driven), a 400 turbo Trans w/ high performance converter. The seats are in decent shape and I have lots of original parts to include but not limited to; bumper, hood and fender replacements and much more. If interested please call Pat @ 818-899-9519 Tues-Sat. $750.00 OBO

Obscure coach for sure! A Poncho not built by Superior..... Nice grab.

I am still trying to set up the transportation of her from where she is sitting back to my place. Once I get her back here I will take out all the spare parts that are in the back and snap some pictures.

Wow, you got nearly 750 bucks worth of parts there my man. Depending on the condition of the rear compartment id say you got a wicked deal on a rare coach. As Atti said, a pontiac that isn't a Superior is a bit of a rare bird. Dont know that I saw them pictured, but I may have looked over them, but are the landau bars accounted for? I can imagine they could be a little tricky to locate. Not sure if they interchange from anything else. Can't wait to see this beauty come together!

I haven't seen the landau bars. And it looked as if the table had been ripped out with a couple forward facing seats behind the front seats. I am told the rollers are there. I haven't located them yet. they may still be in the car, which I pick up tomorrow.

Well it turns out that this isn't a 455 engine, but a 350. I ripped up the carpet in the front. The floor pans are pretty rusted, but still seem solid. There is one spot that seems to have been patched on the drivers side in the middle of the car right by the corner of the driver side seat. Somehow while patching it they left a hole... In the patch job. I will post pictures later.
