  • For Sale Rare 1963 Flower Car/Hearse

Extremely rare 1963 Cadillac high boy Flower Car / Hearse Combo used in funeral processions to carry flowers and caskets. This is a 1963 Cadillac Flower car built by Superior Coachworks in Ohio. The car is one of 28 that Superior made in 1963 and probably only one of several surviving. It is in need of total restoration .The cars unique features include suicide doors, flat top rear visor fiberglass roof, hydraulic stainless drop panel on the rear deck and also the high profile rear bed/rear door to accommodate a casket as well. All of the stainless is intact and in near perfect condition. The rollers are also still in the rear bed. I bought this flower car October 31st from a gentleman in PA. I had it shipped back here to Chicago within 2 days. My mechanic has gone through it. Replaced all the brake lines ,shoes, rebuilt cylinders, turned the drums ,pulled the tank, flushed it pressure tested it, replaced the sending unit, replaced the fuel lines , rebuilt the carburetor , installed a new fuel pump , located a missing hubcap to complete the set of 4 and threw a better set of matching balanced radial tires on it. The engine is a very strong runner and the trans. shifts clean. For a 6500 pound car this vehicle is very peppy The floor boards on the rear bed and behind the seats are deteriorated as all of this vintage and commercial style are, one of the lower outrigger supports is deteriorated as well . I was aware of all of this when I purchased it and have a steel fabricator friend who also was to be involved replacing that support and the floor boards. the windshield has a crack in it but all other glass is intact. I started this project by making it mechanically sound so I could drive it and have fun with it while visiting the mechanic, body shop and interior shop. This car unbelievably still has all of both custom and stock trim including the skirts. 1 of the skirts is missing some of the ribbed aluminum but both are solid .The front bumper lowers are deteriorated. The front bumper eyebrow trim on both sides is broken. The rockers are pretty rusty but the rest of the sheet metal exterior panels are in good condition as you can see from the picts. Within the last week I found my 59 Cadillac dream project. I must sell this rare rough gem as I only have room for 1 project at a time .I am only looking to sell her for what I have into her .I have over $7000 invested at this time. Selling for $6500 or best offer . Serious inquiries only, No Tire Kickers ,Picture Collectors or Dreamers.. Please Dave Link cell 630 212 2278

Professional flipper eh? You got that car right before I went to go look at it. I hope you realize that calling it "rare" is in fact true with pretty much any pro-car and doesn't need to be stressed being all of our pro-cars are rare in their own respect. Heck, I own a one of 4 car...and I stripped all the parts off of the only ever one I have seen..and the other two are MIA or never even released from Miller-Metoer...so we know how rare each and every pro-car is. I sure hope you did a lit of work to it for the amount more you are asking for it then it was before.

P.S. Coming off rude and high and mightily usually does not sell a car well, just in case you didn't know.

          Are you irritated Bob

Bob ,Im sorry I bought the car before you got there. Im not sure what your attitude is about. Its all right there in the ad .It is an open book on why I am selling her and why I am asking the price I am. I have owned 5 proffesional /commercial cars since I could drive .I am 45 now. I love these rare vehicles just as much as I believe everyone else here does. I recently aquired a 1960 Crown Royale Limo style hearse/ambulance that requires all of my time and funds. I dont have space for 2 projects. Its all there in the ad. All I am looking for is my money back I have invested. I have invested over 5 thousand in mechanical repairs.I bought it for 14 hundred .Had it shipped for 7 hundred .Thats over 7 thousand documented invested. I dont mind winding up with 6 thousand after price haggling. My loss is someone elses gain here.I have a Crown Royale now to work on. If I sound rude and high and mighty in my ad that is not my intent. Im just a regular guy trying to enjoy these cars . Open book on my story . I think you might be upset you didnt get the car first. It runs now and is mechanically sound and safe to drive. She needs some sheet metal work .Call me if you are interested in a deal. Have a nice day Bob. Sincerely Dave Link

I didn't think you sounded high or mighty.

Good luck selling your car, sounds like you have a fine project to play with now.

I think the ad came off fine Bob, unless you were referring to the no tire kickers comment.......which if you are I totally agree with Dave on that one. Anyways, hope you sell the car.

I apologize, it has been a rough past two days with some not so good information I just found out and I think I took it out on you. Once again, I apologize for my attack.
