  • '72 Superior endloader

Turned this up today. Located in central Texas, about 50 miles south of Austin.

Very decent original black paint. Really clean interior and headliner. All glass good. Couple minor dings. Undercarriage looks just as good - no rot anywhere. Odometer showed 19k miles, probably 119k? Owner didn't know without checking title. Coach started right up as stated. Says it runs strong and needs nothing. Well, the driver's rear quarter molding was missing and that quarter has a little flash rust on it - so it could use a little attention. A good paint buffing would probably go a long way with this coach. Clear TX title.

Asking $2500. Don't normally pay attention to this year range. Price seems very reasonable for the condition though, right? Older gentleman owner didn't want his personal info on the internet, so PM/email for it.

Actually a pretty good deal! But only because it looks to be in origional condition, runs & drives and with no apparent rot or abuse...

That is exactly what my car looks like. 72 Superior and even the paisley interior is the same lol. Got mine in SC with 67k on it for $3000. Even the streaks on the black paint are pretty close to matching lol.

          You mean the "flash rust"?

Yesterday I drove the '72. As the seller had previously stated, it handled quite well.

                Negatives that turned up:

The vinyl top had dried out and started to rip between the top rails after sitting in this TX heat the last couple months. Taking it on a test drive made this worse.

Found some rot on the lower corner of the driver's door; not on the edge. Paint bubbling on the bottom edge of both front fenders under the molding. Paint crazing on the driver's quarter that won't just buff out.

                Headlights aren't working.

                Positives:

Moreover, this coach's body and undercarriage are solid. Wouldn't take considerable bodywork to fix.

Has a current vintage plate that negates needing an inspection. I was also led to believe the plate is transferable.

Price became more flexible. He dropped the asking price to $2200 and I'm certain less will take it. How much less though, I can't say. I had $2k with me and didn't feel like even making an offer. If you want to though - PM for number.

Vintage plates will transfer to a new owner if it stays within the state. I'd say that $2K is about right, remove the vinyl top and paint the steel. Vinyl tops are the Devil...

                      Hitchike out, drive back.
Make sure to stop for hitchikers to pay it back.

If you can afford the gas money, the '72 will make that drive to Iowa. I took it on a pretty thorough shakedown run.

Of course the headlights would have to be fixed first. Larry and I agree it is probably the floor dimmer switch that crapped out.

Still neg. on driving there, my friends seem less then interested in going to Texas, even with the offer or a free ride there. I am using monday to make up my mind. If it runs well I would like to hit up the Rt. 66 run and take the loooooooooong way home... This is turning into an obsession.. Trying to find something without rust is harder then I thought, but I am still hoping I will find an early 60's that will make the trip home, has min rust, and under $4000. I can dream.

You would have to call my boss and explain to her why I need the week off... She is what you would can an OOOO I don't know, uuuhhhh maybe a nuclear bitch from hell. I found a 1988 Eureka that comes with a casket and is in perfect shape by the lake of the Ozarks that I might get or CW Coach's has a 72 on their lot but it does have some rust issues. Damn why did I move to Iowa....
