  • 73 Miller Meteor Trim Removal

How do you remove the trim on a 73 Caddy Miller Meteor that is between the roof and the quarter panels? I did not see any clips or nuts when i looked from the inside today when i removed top of the box over the wheel wheels. I don't want to brake something i can't replace. I want to get the trim off so i can at least stop the rust from growing. I'm still looking into how to replace the "Krinkle" finish on the roof.

These were the nylon clips I found under the trim on my 74 MM.
I could not source them after a fairly intensive search all across the country. Even with the part number clearly visible on the clip, nobody could find them. You will be able to find the correct plug to hold it in place, but that will do you little good when 2 or more of the retaining tabs break off when you are removing them. Chances are if the car is rusty, it spent a good part of its life outside, meaning these clips have become brittle. Take your time popping the stainless off, drill out the plug, then hope the clip does not crumble as you back it out. FYI - the last clip on the rear end of the trim by the back door are most likely steel - don't expect them to pop off as easy, you may need to slide them off and back on again when you are ready.

When I had my 73 MM repainted, me and a friend removed the molding with a flat head screw driver. I couldn't find the plastic clips, I went to Fastenal and got a box of metal clips. Here is what I got http://www.fastenal.com/web/products...ex?sku=0162645. I had the crinkle top replaced with Line-X. I have gotten many compliments on it.
