  • Windshield interchangable?

First of all HI! This is my first post. Anyway, tomorrow I am purchasing a 1975 Cadillac 3 in 1? hearse. It needs a lot of things. But the windshield needs to come first. So, my question is... is this a windshield I can get from a 1975 fleetwood, deville, seville or are these windshields and other parts such as tail lights not interchangable at all with the pro cars?

windshield is commercial chassis only.......regular will not work.

I hope you got the car REAL cheap, because those windsheilds tend to be both elusive, and expensive.....

I used to have a 75 3-way. The windshield had a small crack that wasn't too bad. But I knew it would get worse. Before I sold the car (and fixed the windshield) I had contacted these guys. http://www.racingshields.com/index_files/home.htm
They were confidant they could make one. Not only could they make one, but it would NEVER break again since it is made from some sort of polycarbonate (sp?). Anyway, if it is good enough for off-shore racing boats and top-fuel funny cars, it should be good enough for a hearse.

            Welcome.
I had mine replaced & for some reason it was listed as a 1974 4 door hearse in the windshield book, it was only a couple of hundred dollars.
I've also seen them on eBay every once in awhile.

I actually did get it for super cheap. Is $300 cheap enough? You will soon see why it was so cheap, but she is beautiful to me. She is also a very strong runner. Even if she wasn't I plan on dumping an LT1 motor in her ASAP.

Thanks so much for the info. I will look around, I have a few friends around here that own junk yards, maybe they might know where I can find one.

The car I am getting today does not deserve to die in the crusher. I will have to do a full restore. But that is totally ok, thats what I enjoy doing. If you guys/gals happen to see a windshield running around, please let me know. THANKS!!!

Is it used? 'cause a new commercial glass windshield cost me about $800 installed. If it turns out that they got the wrong windshield (for that price, it seems all too possible) call pilkington, they'll get you the right one.

Oh, and post pics of your hearse when you get her!

This first pic taken is the first pic I ever took of her. The others are from the website the guy that was selling her had set up. Keep in mind, she is ugly and she needs alot of work. But I could not bare to see such a beautiful car go to the crusher.

As for the winshield, I will check on that again on Monday. Thanks for the link and the heads up.

I keep looking at the pictures and it is entirely possible I have the most damaged, weather beaten, ugly 1975 hearse alive.

Maybe 1975 but not most beaten.....

She's an '86 Buick LaSabre Estate Wagon Hearse and she's been hit by a TRAIN! But she will be fully restored, given time.

I drove her home 50 miles and she ran like a top. Tranny shifts great and the engine seemed strong. Although, there is one hell of an exhaust leak. I am going to need several replacement body parts.

Anyone know where I can find these parts? I know that someone out there is parting out a 75 Cadillac or equivalent.
