Anyone know the p/n for smog plugs on 472

Concerning the elimination of the smog pump tubes when updating to HEI distributor, on 1969 472, I plan on gutting the pump so it will be used for idler pulley for now. I will fab. bracket/pulley stuff in the future but for now I want to install the HEI.
I could get handy with the welder and tube but... rather just eliminate it.

I have seen that the expansion plugs (oil galley cup type plug) is sized 11/16"?
Does anyone know what manufacturing company makes these plugs?
I checked dorman site and went around to several parts stores with no luck. I'm taking the smog tube with me to machine shop tomorrow to see if they have something that I can make work.

you should be able to find freeze plugs that are the same size as the holes.

Cut the air tube, pinch it and then roll it over - then screw it back into the manifold.

I have tapped these holes before, and then threaded a plug into them. The hole is a close-enough size to tap with a standard NPT tap I used some of the flush threaded hole plugs that you can get for outdoor electrical boxes that have a straight slot in them ... makes for a nice, almost factory appearance ... if that matters to you. You have to go slow with the tapping, because it's cast iron (obviously) but it can be done without too much trouble.

FWIW, IMHO, the better way to go with the pump-elimination is to change the pulley, rather than fab up an idler arrangement. You can either bite the bullet a little bit and get the aftermarket pulley or get your hands on a 425 pulley. It's just so much easier, and gets rid of some of that junk in that already cluttered area.

If you mean the ones in the heads, they're probably in the freeze plug set, but they also just happen to be the size of a dime. A trick is to put a little JB Weld around a dime and tap it in.
