  • Help with Carpet and Door Panels

I have a 1972 Miller Meteor 3 way and the carpet and door panels are shot. I was going to order up some JC Whitney specials, but I am a bit confused as to what will fit. Will front carpet and door panels for a 1972 Fleetwood fit?

    Thanks.

They should be stock pieces as far as the front goes...

I went with carpet from http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Carpets/Cadillac
I was VERY happy with the quality.
You can buy extra bulk for your door panels too.

Thanks. I found it for $149.95 for the four door stuff, figured that might give me the extra piece to put under the seat and behind...look like a good deal?

1971-1973 Cadillac Fleetwood carpet Heat and Pressure Molded to the original floor pan, made with Top Quality auto carpet materials. Carpet fits Cadillac Fleetwood 4 Door just like OEM when installed.

If this is any help, I got the fleetwood carpets for my 1976 Superior 3-way, along with an extra couple of yards for the spare tire and church truck compartments. As it is, there is a little bit of slack around the center, with the Fleetwood carpets and the Superior, but it may not bug you. I never could find a choice in the nap of the carpet for any car...it all looks like very new car carpet, if you get the cut pile, and very old carpeting if you get the hook and loop. I want to get some funky shag for mine, and since the hump isn't too high, I might get by with just one splice in the middle. I would be careful of J.C.Whitney, I ordered a set for my 62 and some by the yard for the rear compartment at the tune of $450.00 they took the money and never sent the carpet, and after a year of fighting with them I am still out the money and no carpet.......good luck...I went through stockinteriors.com and had way better results and better quality stuff.........

I hadn't thought about the door panels. I have a 76 where the cloth goes all of the way down to the bottom of the seat. I could come up about 8" or so. Does anyone know where to get those slotted aluminum strips that you put on the edge of carpet? I can make vinyl covers for the front and back of the carpet.

                  thanks

I couldn't locate replacement door panels. The bottoms of mine were totally rotted. I peeled the fabric and padding off the old rotten backing and cut new pieces of 1/8" luan. I coated the luan with polyurethane really well, then glued the top parts onto it. Then I used some spare carpet to replace the bottom. Far from perfect. but they look much better than before. I also changed my interior from blue to black in the process.

How did you change the interior color? From the picture it looks like the factory material.
