(Before anyone asks, I'm not converting)

Anyone know if '89 (5.0) and '85 (4.3) Cadillac trannys and torque converter (automatic) are inerchangable. Should be the same block - thinking it should work.

The '89 5.0 should be an Oldmobile engine. If it is. The transmission will have the B.O.P. boltpattern. This is the same as the Cadillac bolt pattern. The Transmission is likely a TH200R4 overdrive. I think all of this model trans. was made with a common housing that fit Chevy and B.O.P. In the GM family, Chevrolet is the odd man out. It's just that the cars are so common the market is geared for them. In the instance that the trans does not fit, there are several companies that make adapter plates. I usually shop at Jegs.com.
