The GVWR on the tag in your door jamb or under the hood is the maximum weight of the vehicle with the maximum load it is designed to carry. In other words, if your vehicle weighs 5000 pounds empty, and is designed to carry a load of 500 pounds, your GVWR is 5500 pounds.
