what th400 is typical in the late 70's caddy. I have a 78 M&M and the trans is heading to the bright light, before i pull it i want to have a rebuilt ready. How do I know if its a short or long shaft? Did cadillac use the same trans from 70 to 78 for the 70 needs one also. Both cars are too heavy for even fred flinstone to get up to 35mph so that is out of the question. Any help would be great.

My (soon to be sold) 1981 has a TH400 with a BOP bellhousing and 4" tailshaft housing. Pretty typical I think... -
My current 1975 as well as my old 1976 & 1977, all had long tail shaft Turbo 400 transmissions.Comment
