  • Rear axle question

I was wondering if anyone knew the rear axle ujoint size, and had any info on the rear axle, like tube size and flange width, im thinking about swapping in a different rear end.

anyone got a picture of the front yoke? i dont want to lay in the mud under mine to look, plus the leaf springs broken and its sitting on the ground almost.

I cannot claim any manner of expertise with pro cars, but I know that GM only offers driveshaft U joints in an inner and outer clip style configuration when it comes to their typical front engine rear drive passenger car vehicles (and most of their trucks). Most of the modern stuff uses an inner clip style and their older stuff uses an outer clip style. For whatever reason, C4 Corvettes use an outer clip style as well. NAPA part number 372 is a U-joint that has outer clips on one axis and inner clips on the other. The 372 part number cross references to most parts houses in the States.

What kind of axle were you thinking of using? I'd looked at my 58 too and figured a K5 blazer axle would work so far as dimensions and strength go, but the lug pattern would have to be addressed.

the axle i have now is what i would like to use, its 3:55 geared dana 70u with a 1350 ujoint size. i think a 372 is a 1310, i could get a combo joint and go from 1310 to 1350 i guess.

i want my hearse to be 8 lug.
