  • Wanted: 1978 Miller-Meteor Combination

I am looking for a 1978 M&M combination. I'm not sure they made any in 79. I want one original regardless of condition. If it is all there, it can be restored. I would prefer beacon rays and siren but have those if the car doesn't.

I think 78 was the last year M & M made an ambulance so I think it was probably the last year of the Combo's too.

      damn your good Kevin

      from the book

The 1973 EMS Systems Act had virtually eliminated all passenger car-based ambulance production by 1977 and Miller-Meteor only built 21 ambulances and combinations during the year. Only four were built in 1978 and by 1979 Miller-Meteor was reduced to a single line of professional vehicles - hearses

YA MM offered only the landau style combo in 79. So I'm geussen this gents wanting a limo-style combo. As long as hes patient and diligent and keeps scouring the internet and country sides I'm sure one day he'll find what hes looking for.

Thank you all for your replies. You are all correct about M&M. I do know of 4 1978 limo style combinations that were made and sold to funeral homes in Southern Illinois all within 30 miles of each other. One is in Minnesota now, one is in central Illinois, one was sold to a someone in the Northwest possibly Nebraska, one of the Dakota's or that general area and I don't have a clue about the 4th one. These are rare cars as there were so few made. I am a funeral director and funeral home owner for 35 years. My choice of hearses was always M&M. Never had anything else till they went out of business and then switched to S&S. I appreciate your responses and your help and I ask that you continue to help me and all on this forum with dreams like the one I have. This is a good, knowledgable and informative place to find and/or appreciate vehicles from the past. I am proud I found this forum.

I would like to keep this somewhat fresh as someone reading it might know of the where abouts of a car like this. I'm sure the 2 unknown cars are still "alive" if they are still in the U.S. If anyone knows of a 78 or even a 79 M&M combination I would appreciate a contact. jmweir1@verizon.net

Bump to the top as I am still looking. A 78 combination was a rare commodity.

Tony Karsnia on the PCS forums owns one. Or sold it recently, most likely to another PCSer. Though that may be one of the ones you mentioned having knowledge of somewhere in the midwest.
Sheilds Southest Sales in Marietta claims to have taken one in on trade and sold it off their website maybe 3 or 4 years ago, I tried to track it down, but I have my doubts that it was a combo unit. Probably a straight up endloader.

I know it's not EXACTLY what you're looking for, but I know of a 1977 Cadillac Superior Sovereign combination for sale here in Ohio. It's owned by a PCS member here in Ohio & he's a great guy who lovingly cares for all his combos (he has 6 of them). This '77 has 47,000 original miles & is in excellent mechanical condition. Always garage kept & has a Federal Model 17 beacon ray with red dome, a Federal Model 28 mechanical siren and a Federal Intercepter Electronic Siren. It also comes with a model 30 Ferno Washington multi level cot which is period correct (basically everything you see in the pics) and he has the landau panels too. He says the landau panels need some work & the coach could use fresh paint, but for less than $3000 it's a VERY nice coach. Let me know if you're interested & i'll PM you his info.He drives it all over the U.S. to pro-car shows so I know it's a good, dependable coach.I'm actually leaning towards buying this one myself...
