There is bars like these on every old hearses in Europe. I think that tey are used to be hold by the family or the employees when they walk near the hearse during the march from the church to the cimetery.

On this cad' there is bars only on the top of the roof, but on other hearses there is bars on the doors and on the rear of the hearse too.

Thats looks to be an Eterna, One of the more rare M-M built, theres also a 74 eterna parts car on ebay currently, anyways very cool pics thanx

Please forgot what I've wrote ( in bold ) this is not the right answer !
My frriend told me the exact answer with is different of mine !
So, the bars :

En fait sur les barres on y fixe des crochets pointus en métal (tu dois aussi en avoir dans ton corbi, sur une barre à droite dans le "coffre". Quand ces crochets sont mis sur les barres, on peut y piquer la mousse qui se trouve à l'arrière des couronnes de fleurs. Et ces barres ne servent qu'à ça et à rien d'autre. Quand on fait "bien" les choses, il y a 2 corbillards. Le premier est chargé de toutes les fleurs sauf celle du plus proche du défunt. Cette dernière couronne est placé sur la vitre arrière du deuxième corbillard, qui mène le défunt à sa dernière demeurre.

In fact, metal hooks are hung on the bars ( I have the same in my '76 hearse, the hooks are atored in the back of the car ).
when the hooks are hung on the bars, we prick crowns of flowers on it. The bars are used for this and nothing else !
In a "good" burial, there is 2 hearses : one is covered with all the flowers except the crown of flowers that comes from the nearest family of the dead ; this crown is placed on the second hearse that brongs the dead to the cemetery.

Really ? If you have got more informations, please tell us !
We have 2 hearse like this : this 1974, and mine, a 1976. They are the same except the lights and the color of the interiors.
One our titles, the hearse are named " Wayne MM ". I know that Wayne is a society that bought Miller & Meteor name in the 70's, and i supposed that "MM" stands for " Miller-Meteor ".
But if you want pictures of the plates and VIN to get more infos, I can post some
