I'm watching a very interesting show about "superhots" on the History Channel. Look up "tokamak"....they've built a machine that temporarily put out 30 times as much heat as the sun. The real future that I see, though, is a plasma machine that will destroy anything, including medical waste, because it is so hot that nothing's molecules can withstand it. The beauty part is that the process generates 45% more energy than it uses, and puts that energy back onto the grid. They may be strip mining the landfills soon.
I'm not against new technology, when it really has a future and isn't dumping money down the drain, but I'm not going to live much longer, so I don't care much about pristine land, except for perhaps a little plot to bury my body under. I want new refineries built and OPEC prices high so that I can sell more of my own oil. Higher pump prices mean a little more income for us, but make it nearly impossible for me to travel anywhere, which I love to do. At $5 a gallon or more for avgas and 10 mpg, I can't fly my airplane, or even sell it, and driving the hearse is almost as bad. The pump prices that we had just a few years ago would allow me to travel again.
