It has already been said they will increase taxes about 3,000 per year per individual......and the new admin will not suport offshore drilling so they have to go to OPEC and screw us again.....

Mmm. My usual shitty jokes aren't helping. Anybody else out there have "moderate to severe chronic pain" and afraid you're going to lose your medicine? It's a very, very uncomfortable feeling, isn't it

i feel your pain, being in construction i worry every day about my job , my health ins. i've always worked, never been one to take a hand out (like the mass majority the voted in the president)
i have a guy who works with me, never voted in his life. he is 47 years old but he went out and voted, just because he was black.
i'm not a raciest, i'm a real-ist and i bet if the black population was polled on behalf of obama's polices , they couldn't tell ya shit about his princples.

I'LL KEEP MY FREEDOMS, MY GUNS, AND THE MONEY I EARN !

YOU CAN KEEP THE CHANGE !

Fortunately, Dems do not have full control - they are still short by a few seats in the House and Senate. Also, Obama knows he's going to have to give concessions, one of which will be putting leashes on Pelosi and Shumer. You can bet he's already thinking about '08 and what he needs to do to stay in office. Training the extremists(in both parties) will be paramount for him. Almost all of the "analists" have gone into this with some detail. Don't fret, this guy will be smart about this shit.

Yes the supreme court did make good decisions but if Obama gets to appoint some new judges who knows what the next decision will be. Plus they can still ban 99% of the guns made and say ok you can exorcise your constitutional rights with the 1% thats left and by the way we are going to tax you 500% for the ammo, have fun.
I seriously doubt 2nd Amendment issues will run across his desk in this term. I believe as the talk show politicos do: Obama will need to consume himself with issues that only both sides are concerned about before any "agenda" issues can be brought to the table. Gun control issues are polarizing. I'll bet ya a hundred bucks he shys away from gun control, despite his previous public views on it.

I don't think we will be driven into the stone age, I would just rather not lose my job over a stupid tax hike.
Raising taxes is never the answer to building a strong economy.
You know, I have lived better under Democrats than Republicans. Also, again, Obama's tax plan needs to bridge the gap of Dems and Repubs. He's not going to be able to just put his plan into action. There will be changes. I guarantee you, that "bubble" income earners(and biz owners) will have some sort of protection, specificly to combat what you are talking about.

They drive with cheap gas because they make it there. And how exactly do we force them to lower prices when the demand for fuel is so high here?
Easy. We buy the most, we set the prices. Think of Walmart and what they've done to suppliers and distributers for an example. It hasn't happened because those in power have been supported by the oil companies for years(not just Bush) and would never do anything to hurt their profits. Obama has no ties to big oil. He is free to play poker as hardcore as he pleases.
Also what new energy will power these older cars we all love so much without tens of thousands of dollars in conversions?
Older cars, who knows? Having worked in the automotive industry for over twenty years has shown me that the technology is closer than we all think. In the 80's, the Chevy Sprint got over 50mpg. I know, my room mate had one and I drove that car alot. It could get up to 90 mph. It was powered by a 3 cylinder CARBURATED Suzuki engine. No hybrid this or that.

When I was in the USMC, I was there when the first generation of HUMVEE's came in. They could run on anything flamable. ANYTHING! Where did that technology go? Why hasn't that been developed? There are more types out there as well.

First of all, if there is no drilling in the US, why did my Sunoco royalties check from a paid-up lease go up 50 percent last month, and double this month? There isn't any valve to turn it up out there in Okfuskee County...they're drilling. In fact, it was less than a year ago that they bought another paid-up exploration lease from me. Either they're going to set up another Burning Man festival out there, or they're drilling again.

There's another funny thing about oil...you can drill a hole dry, and ten years later, whoah, the non-renewable resource is back in there and you can start pumping it again. Now how d'ya suppose that happens?

My understanding is that Black B'wana is going to appoint six new supreme court judges. If that is true, we won't get any help from there. And then there's Nancy Palosi, the great American waste of hair. I'm sure that she has a lot of experience with turning off lights, but she ought to be doing it on Hollywood Boulevard.

Fabulous, but my cars each have 5 cylinders more than that, and weigh 3-4 times as much. Unfortunately, I'm not old enough to live in Green Valley and drive to the store in a gold cart with no license, but some more of that action would leave more gas for my cars.

Were they turbine-powered? If so, they would burn anything. The problem was that they never could perfect the regenerator. The engines burned anything, but they burned a FUCK of a lot of it. Also, like an aircraft, they took a long time to spool up. Some of this research is still going on, including by one foreign car company.

I don't know of any other engine that will burn anything, unless the C/R and fuel system, or perhaps an elaborate precompressor, or variable supercharger were used. If you would provide more information about what sort of engine this was, I would be interested in it.

              thanks

Morella, those HUMVEE's were powered by Chevy 350 based small blocks.

And Obama might have a chance to appoint two SC judges and very remotely a third. Those judges are already considered "liberal," so the Supreme Court is safe from the commie, pinko wave of liberalism all of you are so paranoid about happening.

What ever caused the oil to be created is most likely still happening, it didn't come from dead dinosaurs. The question is how fast is it created.
I don't think the day will ever come that it is just all gone.

I also heard recently that Brazil discovered oil fields as large or larger than those in Saudi, question is will they tap the resurce.

So are you saying we should just continue to burn oil as if shit just didn't matter? There has been much research into oil production, oil fields and future oil resources by the oil companies(Shell and Mobil especially). No-one has said oil is an infinite source. To be truthful, they have said we have passed peek production and resources. Oil is becoming less and less available. These are researched facts.

Well I've been sitting in silence for this whole thread and figured I'd chime in a little bit too, feelin a little left out. I'm not an Obama supporter by any means. But STODD does make some good very good points. Now that I look back I also did better finacially during the democratic presidencies gas was of course cheaper too. The fact that he did bring up the second amendment(even IF he doesn't do anything with it) still does have me a little on edge. He's in, he's got to be better than Bush, let's see what he can do for us.

A Chevy 350 will not run on diesel, kerosene, or home heating oil, unless you raise the compression to 18:1, in which case it will explode immediately if you put gasoline in it. Otherwise, it will explode after 30,000 miles. I remember that well...I bought a whole buncha glow plugs for that 80 diesel Cutlass I had.

Is that what happened to the leftover GM replacement 350 diesels? They sold them to the government? Do they use 6.2 litre diesels now?

Oh, the memories....you can't put diesel in a gasoline engine either. It won't explode...it just won't ignite. That's why I'm really interested in this engine that will run on anything. I've had to take out the tow truck many times because some dumbass thought that he could put diesel in the gasoline trucks. It sounds just like something a military grunt would do.

So, are you saying oil is infinite?
It's starting to look that way. I just wish I had my mineral rights spread out a little so that I didn't have these "dry periods", after which they usually have to redrill the wells.

There's some pristine coastland off of the Gulf where you can see all of the foreign oil derricks sucking up the oil and selling it to us, since our greenie weenies won't let us drill it, but what we really need are refineries. Oh, and up in the northern plains states, there is some pristine wilderness, and believe me, this shit is wilderness...the only animal that will live there is a gopher, and only if you feed it. For miles, though, you can see the Canadians pumping the oil out along the border, since we're not allowed to.

And Obama might have a chance to appoint two SC judges and very remotely a third. Those judges are already considered "liberal," so the Supreme Court is safe from the commie, pinko wave of liberalism all of you are so paranoid about happening.

                        Umm...that makes no sense whatsoever.

Not to worry, though. My worst fear has already come true. The population has been dumbed down so far that they've put a nigger in the White House, if he lives long enough to set foot in it. Perhaps some military leader will stage a coup and surround the beltway...then they can block it off with piles of 350 Chevy diesel HUMVEES.

I think by all means we should research new energies and use what ever works, but at the same time we need to be exploring and using any and all oil sources we can. It could be 30 years before the new technologies are priced to where everyone can afford them and even then us old car guys will still want affordable fuel for our classics.

As for the making more or less money with dems or reps, I personally make more now than I ever did back in the Clinton era, but I only credit that to my hard work, not to the republicans and I don't blame Clinton for how much I used to make. I could have made more back then if I had gotten off my ass and tried. Not saying you guys are lazy but there must be some real reason for making less.

What did those HUMVEE's use for powerplants back in 85? What fuel did they use?
*post edit after rereading this thread:
Abrams tanks have a dual turbine powerplant(one for each side of the tank) that burns anything. You eluded to turbines as still not being successful. They have been for some time.

                            Umm...that makes no sense whatsoever.
OK, are you all settled or are you having dope shakes right now? No matter, I'll explain it a little better. The justices that are retiring(may retire) are liberal judges already. Obama will not have a chance to replace any conservative judges with liberal ones. Does that make sense?

Now I don't know a whole lot about it or what exact motor it is, but I know my brother's duece and a half can run on all those different fuels. Kerosene, diesel, gasoline, heating oil, and all those other oils and such. With the right ratio people even run them off used motor/diesel mixture. Just thought I'd add that tidbit of useless information.

As far as "vision" goes, lets look at what Obama and Biden have hinted at for a vision.
Obama said he thinks the police in this country should be one agency as large and strong as the U.S. military. No more local agencies just one massive force. and Biden said they wanted to hire on 700,000 new police officers across the country.... sounds like a police state to me and I don't like that "vision".

We already know that they are BOTH very anti second amendment, so any anti gun bills this Democrat controlled government send up will be signed quickly. Yet another "vision" I don't like.
