DRIVE SHAFT DIMENSIONS??

My 59' Superior Crown Royale is missing the drive shaft, anyone know what the dimensions (length) of it should be?

The original owner says he has a bunch lying around, but we need to know the length so we can match it up

Would appreciate some assistance.

Just measure from your trans to the rear. Count your splines on the output shaft to make sure it's the right yoke. Thats about all you can do man. Its should be 2 piece no?

Almost all the 59-60 have a lousy center support bearing. Plan on spending the money to have it replaced.

So, it has a center U-joint?

Yup.
Most drivelines longer than 6 feet have a middle joint with a center support bearing. Since your car is an "X" frame, the center support bearing is bolted in the middle of that tunnel in the center of the frame.

Center bearing/center U-joint......same thing?? correct?

Not quite. A U-joint allows two shafts to be connected at various angles. Such as at your rear or transmission. A center bearing keeps your 2 drive shafts stable and supported in the middle. Think about it, if you had 2 driveshafts connected in the middle by a U-joint, yes theyd be connected, (rather awkwardly) but what would keep them floppin around in the tunnel? Ya dig? Thats where that center fixed bearing comes in.
