New CC only wheel studs... who wants 'em?

I don't see what the coach builder would have to do with it, it was Cadillac that supplied the rear end.

I only say this as neither a stud from a 63 Cad Superior or a 70 MM interchange with my drums. I have a friend with a Cad salvage yard that let me go through what they had and I did not find what I needed for mine. Other research told me that the rear diff under mine was actually not Cadillac but International which made sense as I could not find anything from Cadillac in any year range (CC or otherwise) that matched. I spent nearly four months looking.

I ended up using a race car stud from Jeggs with a special little adaptation to replace my broken studs.

A little research will go a long way as I found out with mine. I would just hate to see someone spend the $$ to make a run of studs that he can't sell because they don't fit all of the vehicles he was making them for.

Haasmama, I would suspect that your rear end is not stock. The differentials for all CC & series 75's were Cadillac, or Pontiac specific. Others may chime in about the make & model, but th epoint is, The coach builder did not provide th erear end.
I'll see about getting some studs out, as I have a bad rim, with bad studs. Just have to pound one out without ruining the dimensions.

Certainly a possibility, though I don't believe it has been changed. Who knows? Could be there needs to be some kind of photo listing for coach parts created by year and builder for comparison? Might be helpful to have around to clarify. There really isn't enough information available about these cars that gets into the details. Please point me in the right direction if this has already been done.

So far, everything on mine has been virgin- nothing has been changed as far as we can tell. This has been a mixed blessing as this car literally looks as if it has been simply ignored and neglected for the last 50 years. Previous owner pulled it out of a salvage yard and admitted that he did nothing with it. It was obvious when we did the first oil change on it after I got it- there was so much gas in the oil that the car quit running.

Regardless, I would be suprised if there was a one size fits all solution and would be just as happy as everyone else with broken wheelstuds if there was. Here is a picture of my broken stud and the drum with the replacements off mine. I would be happy to send it out for comparison. Any thoughts and feedback are appreciated.

Bluke1 - There are two Commercial chassis only studs (AFIK) that were made: 55? to 64, and 65 to 76. I'm going to be reproducing both styles...

Once I have a stud for reference of both types I can begin actually taking orders... and have actual prices per piece.

I was just motivated to get off my dead ass and get the bad studs out for you. Jyst need your mailing address. What too 2 weeks of procrastinating, actually took less than 2 min to get the studs out.
Would like to get a few sets 5/16 inch longer than stock also. Reason is, I'm going to start pieceng together a disk brake setup for the rear. The studs need to be longer, cause I'm going to run a 5/16 spacer.

65-76, possibly newer than that. I had a 77 once, but never remember taking the wheel off the back.

i don't think the 77 & up has the spacers on the rear wheel i can look if need be

Northgahearse - That would be helpful! I know my 50 M-M had regular studs as well, so it would seem that they started mid 50's and changed in 65, and ended with 76. Or so I've deduced...

Also, Atti has cross posted this on the PCS board. Hopefully we'll get enough orders to keep my machinist friend busy for a while... if he's happy, we'll all be happy! Win - Win!

And.... I have two early studs! Looks like a wheel came loose, but they'll work for samples to reproduce! Next step, confirm with Machinist and set up paypal to accept orders...
