LOL.... Mac and I were at the gas station across from the Varsity after we all met there one day. A collage girl comes walking in about how wrong it was that someone drove a hearse. I quickly commented that there were actually two out there. She went off, It was morally wrong and morbid and blah blah fuckin blah. I had enough, As she walked to the back towards the drink cooler I yelled across the store to her
"You're Just Jealous because my car has had more stiffs in it that you have"
Then I walked out.

Last year, being my first summer with my Coach, doing shows here in Rochester was GREAT. I did cruises & shows every week (sometimes 2) and got to the point where if I missed one, the next week everyone wanted to know where I was.
Anyhow, something I haven't seen here yet is HOW do you display your Coach? This could have a lot to how your car is accepted.
I have 2 props that go with me... "Uncle Urnie" in the back (no coffin - may be too much for 'normal' people to handle - LOL), and a Gremlin out front loaded with candy for the kids.
I've had a few comments on my 'Death Car', but calmly explain it is an HONOR car, built to take loved ones to the final hunting ground in the sky, and usually, they end up agreeing.
So far, my biggest problem is figuring out what class to enter... At a GOB show, they wanted me in Stock, then it was suggested Modified, then finding out the car is 75% fiberglass, I was moved to KIT-CARS (you would have laughed your ars off... 6 Cobras with a Hearse parked right in the middle).
Anyhow, it all depends on your state of mind when talking to people... once on my way home I stopped for gas - At the pump was a very nice Mustang (looked like original owners). As the guy pumped gas, his Wife looked over and said "Now THAT is really scary", I looked back & said "Yep, I know what you mean... the price of GAS is outrageous, isn't it"

I attended the next 2 shows like I said I would.
The first show, we had lots of people liking the hearses, a few frowned on the Cremator, but the hearses where a hit, even got interview by a local DJ.

The 2nd show I atteneded, as soon as I parked the car, I had people bitching. It's to big, it's offensive, it needs 2 spaces, etc. Overall the show was great, it was a big hit. They also sold raffle tickets there, you could get a car length for $20, guess which car was always chosen for that, appearantly that is all my car is good for. But you get approximately 130 tickets on a hearse length.

Last year, the hearses from willitmakeit.com went to a local car show hosted by McDonalds every Saturday night. It was October when they went, thinking hearses at a car show just prior to Halloween would be a hit, they were wrong.
Below is the link to the video they took, unfortunately some of the video was damaged, so what is seen is what remained from the initial video. They were thrown out forcefully becuase they showed up at McDonalds with hearses.
They have also been refused services at Burger King because they went through the drive through in a hearse, I personally have never had these type of experiences.

I can't recall a negative thing said to me or Ken about my coaches. The most common thing I'll get is questions as to why I would own one. Usually I'll tell them that if they had the ability to buy whatever car they wanted, it's because they like it for personal reasons. The only reason I get the question on mine is because of what it is. Most of these folks just can't wrap their brain around why we'd want such a vehicle. For me, it's the beauty of the car, the value of it (where else can you buy some of the equivilant years of these cars at their price?) the ability to keep it going where it may otherwise have been sent to a junkyard (how dignified is that?), and hey, lookit all the room I get! (I love it when little boys run to the back and say stuff like that).

I really could care less if someone dissagrees with me owning them. Those are the people with some real issues. I rarely take notice of how people react when I'm driving. I've only noted one person making a sign of the cross as I drove by (it was more like a respectful reaction). I have gotten some smart ass (or dumb) comments, but I think it was due to my professional office attire (zomgs! A GIRL with a car like that? I must say something cute like "hey, is Uncle Fester in there?").

I think one of the most amusing comments I've heard were when I'd bring items to the large waste disposal for my city. One of the guys said "eh, i dunno if we can take whatever you've got back there" and another guy asked Ken if my hearse was a short hearse. ?!? A short hearse?

Sorry, what is " a length" ? Is it people that pay for driving with you with the car ? ( i'm french ).

I'm not sure, but in France, this is not possible. Professionals must serve, or sell their products to anyone if they have not a
Legitimate reason ( that is defined in the law ). This is call in French " refus de vente " ( "Refusal to sell" ) and this is liable to criminal sanctions.

For the raffle tickets : i just understood ! For 20$ you can buy tickets for the lengh of the car ! ok !

It is a crock of crap! I don't even have a hearse yet,but I've been called morbid or dark for wanting one! I don't see the problem with showing appreciation for the vehicle that carries loved 1's to their final resting place! I choose to celebrate life and unlike most people,I do not fear death. As for funerals,most civilians have never experienced a military memorial service that is held for a fallen soldier,I have experienced 2 while I was in Iraq,doesn't matter if you expect the shots for the salute,you still jump,and the roll call will bring anyone to tears.If I go the rest of my military career without another I'll be happy. I say party like tomorrow doesn't exist and always be sure to tell your friends you love em!

I have to agree with the right for a private business (individual) to choose whom they wish to do business with. Personally, I think it's a poor choice and I personally would take my business elsewhere and I'd also make my opinion known to several people. Ultimately though, if I want my rights protected, that means that a private business should have the same rights.

But most businesses refuse service to people who are rude,refusing to serve someone because of the vehicle they drive is like refusing service to someone because of the color of their skin.There's alot of cars out there that I don't like but if I refused to bail someone out of jail because their co-signer showed up in one of those cars I'd be more broke than I already am .There's alot of people that don't like the military either and we'd be stuck with MRE's if we got refused service because we showed up to Mc D's in humvees!

I think businesses have choice's as well, but I feel it should be for other things than being a hearse driver, as mentioned above. If I went in there and was an ass to the cashier or knocked all the stuff off the condiment counter, then I can understand them refusing service. But that didn't happen, we placed an order at the drive thru menu and drove up, when they opened the window to collect the money, the said they don't serve people like us, people in hearses. So that is discrimination plain and simple, it's not as serious as racial or sexual or religious, but it's a start to something more serious, maybe?
I've owned a dozen cars in my life, my first hearse got vandalized, none of my other vehicles ever were. When the punk ass was found, he said he did it because he was offended by it because he was Mormon. I thought WTF!!! Since that point 5 years ago, I haven't been bothered except for the occaisional 'your morbid' type remarks. But in the last 4 months, the verbal remarks and at car shows and even businesses are requesting us to leave because of what we drive. That is what is bothering me.
Also, some of the major car clubs in Az are trying to get professional cars banned from competing in car shows. Now this ranges from hearses to police cars, limos to taxi's (commercial vehicles), who gave them the right to say what kind of car can be in a club or car show?
