Shouldn't have too. This was the point of the "Hearse Discrimination" Thread. Why does what we drive reflect negatively on who we are?
I understand that that is a solution to the problem but it shouldn't be.

I decided wednesday night to test the "hearse discrimination" theory on the Japanese. Working for a Honda supplier they give little perks like a reserved parking place for perfect attendance. Mine is RIGHT in front of the employee entrance. Within an hour the majority of our Japanese staff were out in the parking lot... taking pictures, posing next to the coach, looking in the windows, and laughing/talking (don't ask me what they were SAYING!?!?!) they loved it. Then they went back in, apparently told the HR dept. manager... he went out with a bunch of the department heads & they had a good look too. I was then paged to the office, the Japanese had asked our HR manager to tell me they found a real hearse "most interesting" & want it on the front lawn for the day during our fall festival (they decorate with scarecrows, cornstalks, etc. and let everyone dress in costume). It really came as a surprise because the Japanese culture is so different from ours I didn't know what to expect, but then again they invented karaoke so they can't be right in the head to begin with!

I thought about just quitting and working across the street as a security bouncer for the one on one club. Then park my hearse directly in the same spot daily. He would be doubly pissed as he would now have to commute from San Diego to man the store (for a while at least) and then see my hearse out his window....

I have been deinied jobs for driving a hearse, and the unfortunate part is in Arizona, it is not against the law to deny or fire some one for no specific reason or an obsecure reason. As long as it isn't enforced be the Federal standards: Race, Creed, Sexual Preference, etc.
I got a lawyer about this years ago and was informed of these right to work rule.
I don't know how much you'll appreciate this, but...

The law does have one good thing going for it. You can't be forced to pay union dues.

Also, get the (censored) out of AZ. The laws here are asinine! I already told the story of how I was thrown into a mental hospital for a week, for no good reason whatsoever. Lately, our business is suffering, I am disabled, and all we get in the mail are bills, threats, fees and fines from Arizona and Tucson.

As soon as Jenny is out of high school and we can sell this house (I am working myself into deep pain trying to pack it and still do all of this paperwork I get in the mail), we are going to buy some land in a remote location, in another state, even if we have to live in a trailer.

The last one out of AZ please turn out the lights. CA will probably already be "dark" by then.

Picket the shop with a sign that reads "Do not buy from here. Employees treated unfairly"

A complete waste of time when he could be working at another job or looking for another job. I'd do what Zach said with the notepad, but I'd add a few numbers like The Better Business Bureau and other such watchdog groups.

Also there's nothing like organizing a good old fashioned boycott.

Also I don't really have a boss, but I do freelance computer work. My boss over at LBoffice.com (my mom works there) had me come in and set up the main printers for the new sales guy there. While I was there he showed off my car and noticed the door was squeaky (I totally intended on fixing that). He took some WD-40 and FIXED MY SQUEAK! Getting paid $15 an hour isn't bad either.

You just need to find a boss that can appreciate the car for what it is

yeah, shouldn't have to, but the fact is the world is full of people like that. sure there are exceptions to the rule, but i kinda feel like if you drive your coach to work, you are asking for trouble. especially with the economy in a bad state, it doesn't seem wise to go around taking chances with your job

besides, as much fun as these cars are, they are pretty impractical for daily driving.

As a person who works in the auto industry, never under estimate the power of the picket.

I don't think they are. Certainly if compaired to a Prius, but I don't drive them little cars. They make good spares for when my Hearse gets a flat.

                      Now back to job hunting....

Update on the situation. I think he was looking for a reason to let me go without having to pay unemployment. I had to let go of my two installers and they filed for it. He called me up and asked what I told them ( "Did you actually say ""Laid OFF""?"). He was upset they filed for it. I thought unemployment was something he pays into every month. Not like it is coming out of his pocket anymore than it already was.
Anyway, he pretty much told me (via e-mail) that we will take this situation on a 2 week period to see if we can still stay afloat. Knowing damn well that here in Phoenix we are going into the slow part of our season. When we hit 100 degs thats pretty much it until September arrives.
I think I should find someone in San Diego with a hearse or two and have a tailgate party in front of his store. He shares a parking lot with two other businesses. They wouldn't mind...he would.

I can't see myself driving anything else to and from work but the hearse. And with all the traveling the hearse makes a perfect traveling vehicle Comfortable, spacious for all my gear, and roadtrips never get boring with the reactions from other motorists.

My dad worked for GM for 30 years. Believe me I know this.

However that's the entire union going on strike. Not one guy picketing because he got fired. Not to mention at least the factory workers get strike pay putting those union dues to good use.
