  • A Question of rarity?

Hey, off the wall question for anyone with an idea/answer.........how rare might a 59' M&M Landaulet be?

That makes two. Rare is relative.

See, now,.....I didn't know any of this............thank you!............and yes, I agree......rare is relative,........still "rare" very often tends to live by it's definition.

THAT'S JUST AS COOL AS THE DAY IS LONG!!!

Yes, "rare" is relative and subjective.
If we're talking about ebay, ALL coaches are "rare." LOL

            Some numbers to consider...

In 1959 there were 2,184 Cadillac conversions made, between hearses, ambulances and limos and those were divided between S&S, Superior and Miller Meteor. In any given body style from a coach builder you were probably looking at somewhere between 200-500 in a "Common" configuration (here I would be thinking of 1973 Superior end loaders as common, as there seem to still be a ton of them out there and it was a fairly default configuration)

Factor in what would have survived through the obligatory "It's just a used car" decade, the "Who would want to drive THAT" era, the gas crisis and the Shriners (for clarification, go google it and see how many of them ruined hearses for half assed parade vehicles. There is a reason they are the number one enemy of SORP people!) and I would guess, just guess, that in any give body style for a hearse over 25 years old, you are probably looking at maybe 25-50 world wide.

I could be vastly off on that number but it would be my best estimate with all those factors.

Now that's the kind of logic & information I can use................even if it is just an educated guess!

              Appreciate it!!

Almost positive the song came out before his acquisition. He was looking for quite some time.

I've seen way more 59's than 61's out there... And my 61 started out as 1 of 20 or so...
