When you're ready for an adapter, let me know, I found one for at least $450 less than the wilcap adapter. And it showed up with the Wilcap name on it!!!

They will just want to see who you are. Park around Hebron Ave. and Main St. and set your timer. I give it 10 minutes and you'll start getting the hairy eyeball. You better find a car dude, this will be a great way to offend the townsfolk.

Spastic that's great! It's going to be a while before I get to trans though but I will keep you in mind. Mohawk...I accept your challenge!

Damn...just found this pic. I would love to get a 50's hearse (I like my cars like I like my women...with curves) but I always wanted to make a rat rod hearse, install a blower coming out of the hood, then have exhaust also out the hood and install a flame thrower system...I would have ALOT of fun with that. But I guess this '62 M-M is my closest thing to that dream.

They tried to impound the car saying that the registration was expired. (of course it wasn't)
I put up a stink about it. they made me sit on the curb for a while (which usually means an arrest is next) They kept demanding to know who's car it was, even tho it says it is mine on the registration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a while a superior officer showed up and told me to wait in the car. I could see them arguing in the side view mirror. After a while the superior gave me my license and reg. back and said that i was geting the break of a life time and to get this thing home and check with the registry in the mourning.

Of course there was nothing wrong. Like they would really let me go if the reg was expired......

Wow that's such b.s. but I mean if all the paperwork is legit then there is nothing to be scared of, just a pain in the ass. I know 3 town officers so I'm always hoping if I get pulled over its by them...but knowing my luck I would get the biggest asshole in the department. As for that '56...ugh I really would love to own that car as in pic, turns out it's from a classified so I contacted the guy..he said it was a 4 years old ad and had been sold (I died alittle bit inside).

The transmission adapter is available here:
http://www.riley-auto.com/ADAPTERS.html The one I bought was the CAD-350 AT - So I can put a 700R4 behind my 365. Everything comes in a kit. The only additional piece you'll need to buy is a mopar mini-starter from a dakota pickup.

As I said, I was surprised that the adapter kit showed up, and it was a wilcap adapter.

Thanks for that link Scott. I was only familiar with Bendsten's products - and pricing.

Thats great...and that link is going into my bookmarks. I'm beginning to get worried...this '62 seller hasn't return my calls or text messages...only actually talked to him once. Kinda bummed but I think the talk of a mechanic to check the vehicle scared him off.

                          ...or it sold.

You'll find many sellers won't extend the courtesy of further communication once that happens. Out of sight, out of mind.

There are others out there. Those old ones don't come cheap if they're in good shape though. 70's ones come up for reasonable prices quite often. Pyro posted a nice picture of a mid-60's one in Az. with a popped engine. $2000 for a rust free car is money well spent. I could hook you up with an engine if need be. My buddy has about 10 of them and they are 45 min. up the road from you. I can direct you to a multitude of 60's and 70's parts you can pick up in person. Any hearse is better than no hearse.

I think I'm just gonna have to hold out...I want to stray away from anything above '63, I just hate angles on cars (even my daily driver is a Chevy HHR and has curves). I don't want a restored car because my goal in the end is to make a flat black rat rod and that's just not right to "destroy" a restored 50s hearse. What I need is like the 56 pic I posted, its enough of a project car but with little to no body work is needed, only interior. I just got to keep my eye out....and my bank account full.
