      You don't need to be a mechanic, just take a deep breath, calm down a bit and look at the pedal assembly as a puzzle. When you mash the pedal down something holds it there.
      Find that something and take a screwdriver to it in a prying motion, but only if it looks like it will move.

        And if worse comes to worse go under the car on the driver side and CUT the emergency brake cable.
        But do this as a LAST RESORT only.

          Well said. Something is holding it there. You just have to look very close. And yes worst case, cut the cable, but only if its absolutly nessecary...whats your predicament?

            SOMEBODY PUT ME BACK IN MY CRIB WITH MY BOTTLE!

            FOUND IT..........right in the absolute obvious place..............PAY ATTENTION FELLAS, SO YOU DON'T END UP LIKE ME TOO!
            It ATTACHED to the Ebrake itself........a mini tiny release pad/brake right next to the Ebrake itself.......DUHH!

            I'm going back to bed and cry some more........

              Lol well that's good. Coulda swore it was automatic release then gin I haven't set the e brake in my 59 for a loooong time. Maybe it doeshave an auxilary release. Ill have to check that.

                                Find the vacuum pod that is on the side of the e-brake pedal and there will be a relese lever next to it.
