I really like to think I am good at this stuff, but I'm stumped. I can't figure out what this silver box is. It is behind the drivers side headlights next to the horns on the core support. 1960 Sedan DeVille. The car did not have cruise or factory air ride. Maybe it is for the auto dimming eye?

That's an old style flux capacitor, be very careful handling it.

i friend of mine had one of those on his old merc. I believe that is the transmitter box for a early garage door opener.
