leak under the dash

so for a while now i've had this annoying leak under the dash that i couldn't figure out. water would magically appear, usually *under* the floor mat. i couldn't figure out how that happened.

well today i set out to fix it. this is what i discovered:

Here is what the leak looks like:


Here is where the leak was coming from. it's a hole next to the fuse box. i don't know if there was supposed to be a bolt in this hole or not, but water was dripping out of here at a pretty good rate.



so i found a clothes hanger to poke through the hole...



to see where it came out. this is where the hole comes out in the engine compartment. funny how such a little hole caused this massive leak. needless to say it's been plugged.




has anyone else had a similar leak?

I have had heater cores go out and fill the floor with water, and i have had leaks in the windsheild, but never in the firewall. Even if the grommets were missing, i never had any water get in that way. Kinda odd......

Hmmmm.

Yeah, nice job (and great pics) on that one! I now have another place to look at in trying to locate a mystery leak that my car seems to have.

Sure seems like a peculiar spot for water to enter though.
