The '78s are much lighter than the previous years of Cads. I would say the 6000 to 6500 range is about right. My '68 Pontiac Superior weighs in at 5600 empty. So not all coaches are obese bitches, just most.
8200 livres is the gross weight on my 76, so I assume that it weighs 6200, maybe 6500 with the 3-way table, and another 100 for optional equipment that I added. I towed it 120 miles on a towbar, with a truck that weighed considerably less. You have to go less than 60, and if it starts to shimmy, you have to hold the steering wheel straight and just wait for it to straighten out. Trying to correct it will make it worse. If I had to tow it again, I would use the Chrysler New Yorker.
