  • cadillac HEI distributors identification help needed

He says it is off an old cadillac and that the part number looks to be 1103282. Is this the HEI off a 74-79 cadillac 425-472-500?

According to the numbers that distributor fits:

      1978-79 305, Incl. El Camino A/T

Which means it's a generic Chevy distributor. The one you need looks like the one in this link:

and will fit pretty much all 74-80 Caddys.

          try this one...
          http://www.racepages.com/products/?N...ND(universal:1))

          dammit that didnt work either
follow the link above, then use the car nail down menu to goto 75 cadillac, they actually list commercial chassis, then hit distributor and under brand hit A1 cardone

              Here's a good pic:

The tell tale sign of a Cad dist. is the casting bump halfway up the shaft. Chevy has one, but it's right near the bottom. Olds has a HUGE base gasket and a short shaft. Buick and Pontiac.... escape my memory right now...

Does anyone know the part numbers off some stock units? 1974-1979? or was it also in 1980 too?

I see them on Ebay every now and then for $10. 425/472/500 should be the same, although the earlier models with the double belts require removal of the AIR rails, and one of the belts will rub the cap a little (not a problem).

                    -d

I don't look for Cad parts very often anymore, but you should be able to set up a quick search, maybe just something like "Cad distributor".
