I got the water pump in my hearse replace the week before last. I was heading to a cruise in that was about an hour away, driving on the interstate and the water light came on. I pulled over as quick as I could. After She cooled down and I opened the radiator cap, I checked the fluid and I couldn't see it. I had checked it before I left so I know it was full. I put over two gallons of water and still could see anything. Got to a gas station and filled up the radiator with water and turned around and headed home with no problem. The next morning I went and checked and the radiator and the water level was just below the top. I didn't see any signs of a leak on the ground, She was parked on a dirt drive way. On the ride to the cruise in I had the vent turned on to auto, the a/c is broken so it just blows air and was driving about 70 mph. On the way back I turn the vent off and drove about 55-60mph. Any suggestions?

Try driving it at 70 again and see if it overheats. If it doesn't, drain out the water and mix it back to 50/50 coolant. Be sure that your radiator cap is in good condition. If in doubt, replace it.Originally posted by Abnorml View PostI got the water pump in my hearse replace the week before last. I would check that oil cap for sure--if it is foamy then you have a major problem with the antifreeze mixing with the oil which = expensive fix. If not, then it is within the cooling system itself probably. Then check for hose cracks, loose clamps, untight rad. cap, and hope it was just a air pocket in system.
I had a problem with one of mine similar to this when I did not secure the radiator cap on correctly.Last edited by JustGrim; 09-21-2010, 03:40 PM.
