    Ok School is in session.

4 door hard top. Flat top. No center pillar and the doors are clean with no window channels and a flat roof. (no such thing as a 4 window hardtop) It uses the sleeker front glass of the 2 door hard top and convertible.

4 door hard top, Riviera sedan or 6 window hardtop. Just a different style top as the flat top was considered radical and there is a serious lack of head room. No center pillar and the doors are clean with no window channels. the triangle windows in the rear give it the 6 window designation. The 6 window uses sedan glass from the 4 and 2 door sedans. The windshield is much more verticle and about an inch taller.

This is a 4 door sedan. No 6 window designation, just a 4 door sedan. Center pillar, and window channels.

The 2 door hardtop or coupe. more of the same no center pillar or window channels.

My hearse is built off a 2 door Sedan. You can see the difference in the rake of the front glass.

    Big difference in head room.

    rear overhang.

More rear overhang. The lack of snow shows how much it hangs over.

Some flat top advice. Never park it under trees. The flat tops love rust and suck debris under that rear window trim and it rots the seam.
They also like to leak and the floors love rust to. There favorite spot is between the front and rear side windows. Also they suck stuff into the doors. Keep the holes under the door clear. A lot of 59-60 Chevrolet parts will fit your car as well. keep that in mind as it is usually obtainable and cheaper since it does not have Cadillac written on the box but it is identicle.

Air bag it and give it a good interior. Shaving the trim would look real good. You don't have to worry about ruining the car or any of that crap. I own the 2 holy grails of 59 Cadillacs. I have a 59 Convertible, I am dropping a 72' Eldorado 500 in it and I also have the 59 Miller Meteor. Only 88 were built like it, I see a future Ecto 1. I don't care what other think about it either. If you don't ever want to sell that ends the argument, build it how you want it. If any one gives you crap about modifying the flat top tell them what I am doing and make them cry.

I have two moving windw "sails" in each corner up fron and 4 reg moving windows so is it a 6 or a 4?

Now this has been a good discussion, what a message board like this SHOULD be. Veranda, I was told my car was also called a Verand..(sp?) Anyone know anything about that.
So far It seems my car is a Cadillac Sedan Deville 4 window, "series 62" Flat top,but Veranda may also be incorporated into the name.... or not. That is un certain, Billy chime in on what it was you told me about Veranda, I forget exactly what you said about that.
For car show reasons should I save the first specs you listed tony or the second set of specs?

And speaking of mods... it's the little things that are fun. I haven't the money to replace Caddie wings or emblems yet but every time I walked passed the front of the car and looked down at the 4 holes in the front of the fenders that are suppose to house these wings I would get bugged out (O.C.D) had to come up with a temp solution and here it is.

Those are the same things that are the "spikes" or "studs" that we would screw into our biker jackets just a skull and cross bones version.
And in remembrance .... this is the tag I wanted for the front of my hearse that I picked up 100 times at pep boys but never got around to getting it. But now I have........ on the 59.

You can take the hearse from me but never out of me

True that I got lots of options that I can tell that are pretty much lux. Power everything too.

Commercial chassis are 86 series, they were never based on the 60 or even 75 series. They were thier own series.

    59 Sales Brochure

The 1959 dealer brochure says: The new standard of the world in value. Sixty Two Sedan four window. Brilliantly new in beauty and bearing, the styling of the Sixty Two sedan features an entirely new concept in sedan design. The driver is surrounded by safety plate glass providing greater motoring pleasure and safety than he as ever known. A single rear window curves completely around the rear quarter panels of the car and the sweeping roof line extends rearward beyond the window to form a protective visor. To take command of this newest Sixty Two sedan is to experience a new measure of motoring satisfaction and to learn the facts about its great practicality is to understand a new concept of motoring value. Interior fabrics are identical with those of the sixty two coupe.
The manual lists the sixty two four door sedan as a 6239 body code A, so it would be a 59AXXXXX. A sedan deville would be a 6329 or 59LXXXXor a 6339 59BXXXXX, a sixty special is a 6029 or 59MXXXX

The Series 62 Cadillacs are easily identified by the absence of the script on the rear fender. Instead, they feature a Cadillac crest under the mid-body spear on the front fender. The Series 62 was the base model for the Cadillac line up. The four window sedan sported a wraparound rear window and a flat roof. Hence the popular name Flat Top for the 4 Window Sedan.

My Superior Coach is based on the series 62, it doesn't have all the luxuries of the other models such as power windows, seats and such, but body wise the series 62 is the same as the Deville, in 1962 anyways.
