how to replace your windshield with lexan

I called and talked to them before my original install. they wanted me to ship them the current windshield. I decided it was much easier to just get a piece of lexan and make one myself.Originally posted by BIGEVIL View Post
i replaced the windshield today with the 3/16ths version. it's definitely much more rigid. At least this time i didn't gouge the shit out of it getting it home, but i did over tighten a few of the screws, which caused a few cracks. *Goddamnit* it's always something.
Next up for asheville is changing all the belts. hopefully that will be a bit more straight forward.

no, it wasn't getting hazy. i just used a piece that was too thin to start with, and i was tired of all the wobbling around. also it was starting to crack at the rearview mirror mount due to the wobbling.Originally posted by Dickey View PostDamn, that's pretty cool. Are you replacing it because it got hazy?

OK, so update:
3/16ths thick lexan sheet didn't really have that much better performance than 1/8" at highway speeds.
so now i have to decide if i want to try again with 1/4" lexan or go back to looking for actual glass.
it was really disappointing to have done all that work and still have wobbling problems.
At least the wipers ran fine all the way to asheville and back with no scratching or marring.

On it.
Had already called a friend in NC that had (past tense) a spare windshield. Unfortunately a professional glazier that was paid to remove it from parts Eureka broke it while removing.

that's the problem. $500 from CW coach, not including shipping, and no guarantees it would get here safely, etc.Originally posted by Atti View PostOn it.

but at this point i'm not really sure i want to try again with 1/4."
